Manchester United make £30,000-a-week offer to sign Angel Gomes to a new deal

Manchester United have made a £30,000-a-week offer to youngster Angel Gomes as they try to convince him to sign a new deal rather than leave for free this summer, according to reports.

The 19-year-old’s contract expires on July 1 and there are suggestions that a number of Premier League sides – including Chelsea – are keen on snapping him up if he decides to end his time at Old Trafford.

United view Gomes as one of their prized young assets and do not want him to quit, so have made a big offer to keep him.

The Sun are reporting that the new deal on the table is worth around £30,000 a week and there are extra bonuses for appearances, goals and trophies won.

The Old Trafford side recently convinced fellow young charge Tahith Chong to stay despite Juventus interest with a similarly structured deal.

Gomes, who has made just five first-team appearances, is already thought to be on £17,000 a week.

It might not just come down to the offer on the table though, as the England Under-20 international is thought to be keen on a promise of first-team action from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And interest in Jude Bellingham – who was spotted at their training ground earlier this year – is reported to be a concern for him.

Bellingham, a 16-year-old wonderkid, plays in the same position as Gomes and would cost United around £30million.

Gomes has already turned down offers from United, who proposed a £20,000-a-week deal back in January.

That alerted European giants, who could have signed him to a pre-contract agreement, while Chelsea are keen on a move to bring him back to his hometown of London if he does leave.
