Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick gives Cristiano Ronaldo fitness update before Tottenham

Ralf Rangnick has been speaking to the press ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham.

Ahead of the game, the German discussed a number of topics, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese sat out United’s derby-day defeat last weekend with a hip issue and also missed training on Monday and Wednesday this week.

And when speaking about Ronaldo pre-Tottenham, Rangnick stated that the forward is fit again: “I haven’t asked him [Ronaldo] if he’s happy at Manchester at this club, he’s fit again, resumed training yesterday and we shall see which formation we will line up with tomorrow.”

The German also suggested both Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay will be out vs Spurs: “Luke Shaw will miss out. Until yesterday, still testing positive for Covid. Scotty is a question mark, problems with his calf. Right now it’s more likely he will not be available because if we risk him tomorrow he might be out for the game on Tuesday (against Atletico Madrid). I tend to be careful if it’s a muscular injury.”

Manchester United vs Tottenham

Manchester United are set to face off with Tottenham in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off.

The tie is a huge one for both sides, with a loss likely to be very damaging in both their hunts for a top-four finish.

Manchester United were knocked off 4th spot by Arsenal on Sunday after the Gunners beat Watford and United lost to Manchester City.

The Manchester outfit are now one point behind Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta’s side do have three games in hand.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are down in 7th, but could catch Manchester United if they win their games in hand or pick up a win this weekend.
