Manchester City set to sign 16-year-old Celtic midfielder Josh Adam

Manchester City are set to sign Celtic’s emerging midfield prospect Josh Adam.

The 16-year-old is viewed as one of the best youngsters in Scotland and the Etihad Stadium club, among other Premier League’s leading teams, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea, are keen.

But City will win they race for Adam, who will initially join the club’s academy.

He has had an option to sign pro terms with Celtic since turning 16 in February, but terms have not been agreed.

Adam is a Scotland youth international, having played three times for the Under-16 side and has seven caps at all levels, scoring once. 

He made his debut at Under-16s at the age of 14 in 2018, handed his bow by Stuart McLaren. 

The 16-year-old will join an impressive youth setup at City’s Etihad campus, with the Under-18 side having been runners-up in four out of the last five FA Youth Cups.
