Manchester City are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing out-of-favour full-back Kieran Tierney from Arsenal in the summer.

Tierney has been limited to just five Premier League starts so far this season as Arsenal have mounted their most credible title challenge in more than a decade.

However, after a serious knee injury brought a premature end to Tierney’s season last campaign, Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in the summer to bolster their ranks in the left back position.

Supremely experienced after participating in multiple title-winning campaigns for the Citizens, Mikel Arteta has repeatedly selected Zinchenko over the Scotsman since the start of the season.

However, according to a report from Football Insider, Tierney may be set to make the opposite move to his Ukrainian teammate and continue his Premier League next season at the Gunners title rivals.

Although Arteta has not commented on the Scotland international leaving the club, the report adds that Arsenal would consider offers of around £30million for Tierney.

City are said to have enquired regarding Tierney’s prospective availability over the summer, with Pep Guardiola reportedly keen on utilising the transfer market to improve his depth in the position.

Since Zinchenko’s departure Nathan Ake has proved to be more than capable at occupying the position, despite being a central defender by trade.

City also have La Masia product Sergio Gomez in their ranks after signing the 22-year-old from Anderlecht in the summer, but the Spain youth international has found game time hard to come by at the Etihad thus far.

Tierney has also been the subject of interest from Newcastle according to a recent reports.

The former Celtic star would face competition from Dan Burn if he were to make the move to join Eddie Howe on Tyneside.
