Man United ‘make contact with Willian’s representatives as they eye free transfer summer swoop’

Manchester United have reportedly been in contact with Willian’s representatives to discuss signing the Chelsea forward on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old’s future is up in the air as his current deal expires on June 30 and the Blues are reluctant to grant his request for a three-year deal to stay.

The Brazil international is even hesitant to sign a short-term contract so he can play out the rest of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season amid concerns he could suffer an injury which hinder a move.

According to France Football, Manchester United have now contacted the player and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, to register their interest.

Paris Saint-German and Real Madrid are also said to be keen, but the Spanish giants are also reluctant to offer him a three-year contract.

The report states that the Red Devils want to add the experience of Willian to help Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

Given the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis, recruiting Willian for free is an attractive prospect for United

The winger admitted last month that while the uncertainty surrounding his future is proving to be ‘difficult’.

‘It’s a difficult situation because Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change what they offered. I said I wanted three more years,’ the winger told Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo.
