Man City star Phil Foden breaches social distancing rules with a kick-about on the beach

Manchester City ace Phil Foden has appeared to breach social distancing guidelines by playing football on a beach in Merseyside over the weekend.

The England Under 21 star was challenged by members of the public during the lockdown heatwave.

And he was within inches of his opponents as they tried to tackle him.

Foden then posed up for a photo with them on the sands as they huddled together.

Players across the Premier League have been told to maintain social distancing at all times other than during contact training sessions. Players have also been told to avoid going to shops because they are considered high risk.

But the 20-year-old showed off his skills to twice get past one player in an orange T-shirt and the second time, an onlooker said: ‘He’s just done you again. He’s just done you over!’

Another player tried to tackle Foden with a beer in his hand but was unsuccessful.

A pal can be heard saying: ‘Go on Bill. He’s left-footed like me.’

The onlooker then adds: ‘He’ll do you, he will.’

Midfielder Foden – who has played 32 times for City, scoring once – then kicks the green ball away from him.
