Man arrested after crashing stolen car into Royse City Buc-ee’s

A man in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex found out the hard way what it means to risk it for the brisket. On New Year’s Day, a suspect of the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office drove a stolen car directly into the Royse City location of Buc-ee’s after a chase through North Texas.

According to reports, the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office pursued a stolen vehicle in a chase after a man was taken to Richardson’s Methodist Medical Center by Plano police. As the suspect left, he stole a vehicle.

“Rowlett PD located the vehicle and gave pursuit but lost the vehicle,” the RCSO office tells MySA. “Rockwall County Deputies along with Fate DPS located the vehicle on IH 30 in Fate and began pursuing it.”

The driver eventually exited at an exit for FM 2642, after which they sped across the Buc-ee’s parking lot in Royse City and smashed into the entrance on the east side of the store. He then ran through the store trying to escape before being caught.

Royse City Police posted on social media that no one was injured and that the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. The east side of the Royse City Buc-ee’s store was damaged in the crash, but as of Sunday evening, January 1, the store was open.

MySA has reached out to Royse City Police for more information.

Rockwall County Sheriffs tells MySA that the man is currently being held at the Rockwall County Detention Center. He is being charged with aggravated assault/deadly weapon, evading arrest vehicle, unauthorized use of vehicle, evading arrest detention and reckless driving.
