Louis Riddick Rips Dolphins For Interest In Deshaun Watson

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly interested in getting a deal done for Deshaun Watson.

That news broke Wednesday evening, courtesy of reporters in Houston.

Such a deal would mean Tua Tagovailoa is out of a job in Miami before his career could really get started.

ESPN’s Louis Riddick decided to rip the whole idea of the Dolphins going after Watson in the first place.

Riddick hits on the two main points of this conversation.

The first is the fact Watson is dealing with pending legal issues that could make him ineligible to play in the future.

The second is how badly the Dolphins have handled Tagovailoa, and how unfair it is to compare him to Justin Herbert.

Dolphins Ignoring Watson’s Troubles

Would the Dolphins really swing a deal involving draft picks without knowing Watson’s legal future?

That would truly be an insane thing to do and could hurt the franchise for years into the future.

And what about Watson’s fit in the locker room?

If the trade went down this instant he would show up on a 1-5 team that just gave up on its former top pick.

Making this deal ignores all the factors involved and just assumes Watson will show up and dominate after not playing all season.

Unfair To Tua

Riddick is right to point out how the Dolphins can’t be trying to compare Tagovailoa to Herbert.

The former showed up with injury issues and joined a messy organization, while the latter was given proper coaching and weapons from the start.

The Dolphins knew Tagovailoa would take some time, and by the way he just played a solid game in London even if the team lost.

However, the best thing for the lefty may be to get traded and join a team that actually wants to build around him.

He can then launch his NFL career without too much pressure while the Dolphins hope and pray Watson is the answer and is also available to play in 2022 and beyond.
