The Spurs’ young shooting guard steps up to aid the local community
Second-year shooting guard Lonnie Walker IV was seen assisting efforts to clean up San Antonio streets Sunday morning following protests from the previous night.
Although the Spurs’ swingman isn’t native to San Antonio, he supported the community by removing graffiti from buildings and handing out waters to volunteers and workers.

The Reading, Pennsylvania product also took to social media to acknowledge the demonstrations and expressed his desire for everyone to come together during these divisive times.

San Antonio was one of more than 75 cities nationwide involved in the protests following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officers on Monday.
According to the San Antonio Express News, initial protests began with approximately 5,000 people marching in downtown San Antonio on Saturday evening, with most of the crowd dispersing by 7 p.m. central standard time.
A few hours later, a group of rioters began breaking into and looting stores while police attempted to regain control of the situation through the use of tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets at those on the streets.
