Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold bids to become FIFTH two-time PFA Young Player of the Year winner

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been included in an all-English shortlist for the 2020-2021 PFA Young Player of the Year award.

The Liverpool right-back picked up the prize in the 2019-2020 campaign following the Reds’ Premier League title win but he faces strong competition to come out on top for a successive year.

Phil Foden, who won this season’s title with Manchester City, is also on the shortlist alongside Chelsea‘s Champions League winner Mason Mount.

Foden managed nine goals and five assists in the league while Mount contributed six of each as Chelsea finished fourth.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Mason Greenwood make up the rest of the nominations.

Rice had an impressive season with West Ham, captaining the side on a number of occasions as they qualified for the Europa League.

Saka was a regular starter for Arsenal and played in a number of positions, contributing five goals and four assists across the season.

Manchester United forward Greenwood finished the campaign strongly with six goals in his last eight games.

All six of the players made Gareth Southgate’s 33-man England squad ahead of the Euros, with Greenwood the only one to miss out on a place in the final 26 due to injury.
