Jude Bellingham is set to be at the heart of the summer’s biggest transfer saga.

The £100million-plus-rated England star looks certain to leave Borussia Dortmund and appears to have the pick of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

But if Jamie Carragher‘s very telling reaction to Thierry Henry’s mention of the midfielder is anything to go by, it’s Liverpool fans who should be getting excited.

Henry was making a point about players wanting to represent Paris Saint-Germain during CBS coverage of Wednesday night’s Champions League action.

But then he suddenly switched topic, turned to Carragher sat next to him in the studio and said: ‘Bellingham wants to play for Liverpool, everyone knows that, right?’

Carragher’s reaction is priceless and Micah Richards, also on the punditry team, breaks into a broad grin.

‘Ay up,’ says Carragher, himself dissolving into a cheeky grin as Henry continues his point.

Liverpool fans certainly took it as a sign that Bellingham is bound for Anfield. ‘It’s totally on,’ wrote one on Twitter, with another saying: ‘love how no one is even hiding it anymore.’

The team were dissecting PSG’s latest disappointing Champions League exit as they lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich on the night and 3-0 on aggregate to crash out at the last-16 stage.

The night before, Bellingham’s Borussia Dortmund had themselves gone out to Chelsea.

But, as Sportsmail reported on Wednesday, Liverpool’s hopes of signing Bellingham are expected to hinge on whether they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Reds are confident they can land him but will face stiff competition from Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid for the 19-year-old.

Playing in Europe’s top competition is likely to be a decisive factor after Bellingham became accustomed to competing against the very best with Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have enjoyed a resurgence in form in recent weeks, winning four of their last five games, including Sunday’s 7-0 thrashing of Man United.

That took them to within three points of Tottenham, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League place in the Premier League, and Liverpool have a game in hand.
