Leicester ‘set to beat Inter Milan and Monaco to £14m Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho’

Leicester have agreed personal terms with Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho ahead of a proposed £14million summer move, according to reports.

The Portuguese midfielder is being courted by Inter Milan and Monaco too, but Radio Marca report that Leicester lead the way after agreeing terms with the player.

No agreement has yet been made between the two clubs, but it is believed that the move is likely to go through, and for a cut-price fee too.

Carvalho was valued at around £18m before the coronavirus pandemic, but it has been reported by O Jogo that Betis are likely to accept a fee around the region of £14m given the current circumstances.

The midfielder is yet to return to the pitch since LaLiga’s restart earlier this month, and has twice been an unused substitute for struggling Betis.

Rubi was sacked last week with the team languishing in the bottom half of the table, meaning a lack of European football next season is likely to force player sales in the summer.

The Foxes, meanwhile, are set for a Champions League spot at the top of the Premier League, giving them a significant budget for summer business in the transfer window.

Although Carvalho is one of Betis’ best players, his game-time has been severely limited this season through injury.

Earlier in the campaign he suffered a spinal disc herniation, ruling him out for four months.
