  • Leicester will play another six games this month, starting with Crystal Palace

Jamie Vardy will complete a course of injections next week which Leicester hope will allow him to return to action before the end of the season.

The forward has played only twice in 2022 and is currently sidelined with knee trouble, which has left him unable to strike the ball without feeling discomfort.

Leicester face Crystal Palace on Sunday and Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed: ‘Jamie won’t be back. He’s got a final injection on Tuesday and we will see what the reaction is to that.

‘He can do a lot of fitness work but he is not quite ready on kicking the ball. We are hoping we get positive news next week on that.’

Vardy damaged the hamstring in the 1-0 win over Liverpool in late December.

He stepped off the bench to score a goal on his return to the team in a 2-0 triumph at Burnley on March 1, only to be injured again in the following game, a 1-0 win over Leeds four days later.

The 35-year-old has a strong claim to be the greatest player in Leicester’s history and is under contract with the club until the end of next season.

Leicester are likely to make significant changes to their side against Palace, with key men kept fresh for the away leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw.

Both Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans could be rested while Nampalys Mendy and Daniel Amartey may return to the team.
