Leicester are interested in signing Monaco winger Sofiane Diop this summer, and are willing to let Hamza Choudhury leave on loan, according to the Sun.

The France U21 international has quickly become one of the hottest prospects in Europe after helping guide Monaco to a third place finish in Ligue 1 this year.

Brendan Rodgers is understood to be a big fan of the winger and is not deterred by £20m price-tag set by Monaco.

The 21-year-old has been a highly touted talent since breaking into the Monaco first-team in 2020, and has now developed into one of the most exciting players in French football.

Diop made 30 appearances in the league this season, scoring four and assisting six, as his side secured a spot in next year’s Champions League – finishing just two points behind second placed Marseille.

He is skilful, fast and a confident dribbler of the ball that’s also versatile and comfortable on either side of the pitch – meaning there should be no issues for Brendan Rodgers to get Diop and fellow winger Harvey Barnes playing together.

The Foxes are also prepared to loan out midfielder Choudhury in the summer, with West Brom keen to bring the player to the Hawthorns.

The 24-year-old midfielder is seeking more game time after falling down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium – with Steve Bruce’s side interested in bringing him in.

Choudhury made just six Premier League appearances last year, with Boubakary Soumare’s summer arrival meaning competition for a starting spot was even higher.

He could leave on a permanent deal, but that’s only likely if the Baggies can negotiate a fixed fee that could be paid if they secure promotion to the top flight.
