Kylian Mbappe May Have Just Handed City A Major Boost In Battle To Sign Erling Haaland
Kylian Mbappe’s huge salary may hinder Real Madrid’s attempts to secure a deal for Erling Haaland, according to reports in the German media.
Mbappe is likely to move to the Bernabeu on a free transfer when his contract expires in June but Real are unlikely to have the wage budget to accommodate both the Frenchman and Haaland this summer.
The Borussia Dortmund striker is said to be demanding around £30m a year. When you include agent fees, bonuses and the €75m (£62.5m) buyout clause, it will prove very costly to secure the Norwegian’s services.
With that in mind, Real are reportedly hoping that Haaland will wait another season before finalising his switch to Spain. Whether the player would be open to such an arrangement, it is not known.
The 21-year-old is believed to be interested in a move to Spain but Real’s financial situation could give the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea an opening in the battle for the player’s signature.
A decision on whether Haaland will stay at Dortmund is expected before the end of February, with the Bundesliga side keen to know whether they will need to sign a replacement for next season.
