King Charles gives Prince William command of Harry’s old Army unit in major royal reshuffle

King Charles has handed over the reins of Prince Harry’s old Army unit to the heir to the throne, Prince William.

The monarch made several high-profile military appointments this week in a major military reshuffle just weeks before the death anniversary of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Prince of Wales will now head up The Army Air Corps as the Colonel-in-Chief — a military unit previously belonging to his globe-trotting brother, who served as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

Elsewhere, Kate Middleton also received more responsibility from the King, who appointed three new roles to her — including one that is a sweet nod to her grandfather.

Among the roles given to the Princess of Wales is the Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm.

The title holds a special link to Kate’s family, as her grandfather Captain Peter Middleton served in the Royal Air Force (RAF).

The prestigious title was previously held by disgraced Prince Andrew before his military titles and honors were stripped from him.

Another of the Duke of York’s former titles, Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Irish Regiment, has been appointed to Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh.

“Following his Majesty’s Accession, the King is pleased to announce further military appointments for working members of the royal family,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement this week.

“The new appointments will continue to reflect the close relationship between the Armed Forces and the royal family in His Majesty’s reign.”

The monarch decided to reshuffle military appointments for working members of the royal family ahead of his late mother’s death anniversary on Sept. 8.

Harry and wife Meghan Markle were recently snubbed of an invite from the King to attend the Royal Family’s gathering marking one year without Her Majesty.

The exiled royals, whose rift with the Firm rages on, are set to touchdown in Düsseldorf, Germany just 24 hours after the royals meet in Balmoral.

But according to the Sun, sources say there’s been no “outreach to them.”

The pair’s trip to Germany will mark their first joint European appearance since the late monarch’s funeral on Sept. 19, 2022.

The snub follows the King recently evicting the Sussexes from their royal digs at Frogmore Cottage — meaning the couple will have to set up camp with a pal or a hotel next time they visit Harry’s home soil.

Despite that, a royal expert said that Charles will not be stripping Harry and Meghan of their “Duke and Duchess of Sussex” royal titles no matter what.
