Kareem Jackson: Deshaun Watson wants to play for Broncos

Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson is no stranger to Houston Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson. The two were teammates during Watson’s first couple of NFL seasons until Jackson signed with the Broncos in March 2019.

Watson has skipped Houston’s organized team activities amid reports he wants to be traded, and Jackson explained on the latest edition of the “‎Catchin’ Fades with Aqib Talib” podcast his former teammate would like to join Denver.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Deshaun,” Jackson said, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I’ve been talking to him the last couple weeks, man. And like all he’s been telling me is like, look, Jack, just tell them, like that’s where I want to be. . . . I want to be in Denver.”

Watson is still facing 22 civil lawsuits regarding allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, and his status for the upcoming season remains up in the air whether he stays with the Texans or is traded. He could be made ineligible for part or all of the campaign via either the commissioner’s exempt list or a suspension even if the cases are ultimately dropped or settled out of court.

For now, the Broncos have veteran Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock competing for their starting quarterback job.
