Josh McDaniels Continues On A Historically Awful Stretch
Before the 2022 season kicked off, everything seemed to be pointing in the right direction for the Las Vegas Raiders.
They had signed free agent wide receiver Davante Adams, and edge rusher Chandler Jones, along with a myriad of linebackers, and additional receiving weapons for Derek Carr.
Everything was going according to plan.
2022 was going to be the Raiders’ year, where they finally toppled the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming victors of the AFC West.
Enter Josh McDaniels.
Unfortunately, that is not a typo.
After his miraculous 6-0 start to a coaching career, McDaniels has cooled off quickly.
This season, the Raiders have underwhelmed all potential expectations, and their playoff aspirations have evaporated as quickly as they arrived.
Sitting at 2-7, the Raiders might as well switch their attention to the 2023 draft, where they are gearing up for a top-5 selection.
What’s Next For McDaniels?
A career change is the most likely.
McDaniels worked under New England Patriots coaching legend, Bill Bellichick, for nearly 20 years.
McDaniels had left New England to coach the Denver Broncos, and coach the offense and quarterbacks for the St. Louis Rams, before quickly heading back to the comfort of Bill Bellichick, where he regained his titles as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
If the Raiders losing ways continue, it’s hard to imagine that the Las Vegas Raiders will have much more patience with McDaniels.
If he does meet his Raiders coaching demise, one has to wonder if he will go back to New England, or if he will need a career shift entirely.
