Jordan Henderson sends emotional message to Liverpool fans 24 hours after wrapping up the title

Jordan Henderson has said it is a ‘honour’ to captain Liverpool after releasing an emotional message 24 hours after the club wrapped up the Premier League title.

The midfielder has led his side to their first league title in 30 years, which was confirmed after Manchester City lost to Chelsea on Thursday evening.

And Henderson took it upon himself to thank the club’s ‘amazing’ fans and expressed his excitement to celebrate with supporters ‘when the time is right’.

The Liverpool skipper has led the club to their first league title after 30 years of pain

The Reds skipper tweeted: ‘Wow. What a 24 hours! Being able to celebrate together as a team last night is something we’ll all not forget.

‘However I want to send a message too to all of you, our amazing fans. It is a true privilege and an honour to represent and captain your great club.

‘We know it’s been a long wait but to all of you Reds, this one is for you. When the time is right, we can’t wait to celebrate with you all.

‘Thank you for always believing in us. Now we must focus on the next seven games and finish the season as strongly as we can before we get to lift that trophy.

And he tweeted that it was an ‘honour’ to represent the club and thanked all of the fans

To each and every Liverpool fan out there, You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ before he ended the message with a heart emoji.

Henderson’s message comes after it was confirmed that the club will have an opportunity to parade the trophy through the streets of the city after the council gave the go-ahead.

A bus tour will not happen until it is safe to hold one, but Liverpool city council confirmed their intention to allow an event similar to the one last year, when crowds of 650,000 flooded in

Henderson also expressed his excitement to celebrate with supporters when the time is right

Liverpool will get their hands on the trophy at their final home game, with the Premier League working on ways to maximise the effect of the presentation but adhere to social distancing rules.

Meanwhile, boss Jurgen Klopp warned Liverpool’s rivals that the club are eyeing further domestic dominance.

The German has mapped out his ambition for the coming years and wants them to surpass Manchester United’s total of 20 league titles.

Henderson’s message comes after the club were given the go-ahead for a trophy parade

‘I will not stop, we will not stop, that’s it. We will stay focused and we see the opportunity,’ he said.

‘But ‘will not stop’ does not mean we will win everything; we just want to improve because the other teams are good already and will improve. Man City are absolutely exceptional.

‘I can’t promise we will win something but we will try everything to improve and I think that is possible.’
