John Deere Classic odds, picks: Best bet in a weak field at TPC Deere Run

With last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic in the rear-view mirror, we now look forward to this week’s John Deere Classic in Illinois.

TPC Deere Run will host this event, which it has done annually since 2000.

TPC Deere Run is a par-71, 7,289-yard track designed by D.A. Weibring that benefits strong ball strikers and those who excel on bentgrass greens.

Let’s take a look at the field.

John Deere Classic

Looking at the top of previous leaderboards, the greatest predictors of success at this course are strokes gained tee to green and greens in regulation percentage (GIR%).

Despite missing each of his past two cuts, now is the time to buy low on Joseph Bramlett.

First of all, the John Deere Classic features a relatively weak field, which should benefit a guy that has made five of his past eight cuts.

Over that stretch, he boasts three Top 20 finishes, including his T19 performance at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Bramlett gained +1.22 strokes putting at that event, which is important to note as that tournament was also contested on bentgrass greens.

In fact, Bramlett has gained strokes, putting in three of his past four tournaments that were contested on bentgrass greens.

A solid ball striker, Bramlett ranks 29th on Tour this season in strokes gained tee to green and 20th in GIR%.

Among a weak field, now is the time to buy low on Bramlett.
