Jimmy Garoppolo Welcomes Himself Back To The Fans
As he walked to practice in the 49ers’ facility, Garoppolo said, “What’s up, faithful? Missed y’all.”
He had a smile on his face after saying that line.
Instead of the $24.2 million base salary, he was supposed to earn in 2022, his guaranteed money is now at $6.45 million.
He also has a no-trade and no-tag clause.
The no-trade provision isn’t a guarantee that he won’t be joining another team before the season ends.
Instead, it’s about involving him in the discussion before a trade is finalized.
The former Eastern Illinois standout could also earn more money through incentives.
Garoppolo’s Incentive-Laden Deal
Aside from his base salary, Garoppolo could get up to $15.45 million in incentives.
First is the per-game roster bonus of up to $500,000 for $29,000 per game.
He also gets $250,000 for every game wherein he played at least 25 percent of the snaps.
If he meets the snap count criteria above, he can also get another $100,000 if the 49ers win.
Garoppolo could also earn an extra $500,000 if he takes at least 50 percent of the offensive snaps in a playoff game.
That same incentive will happen if he meets the same conditions in the NFC Championship Game.
He will earn another $500,000 if the 49ers win the National Football Conference.
Finally, he will get a $1 million payday if he plays at least 50 percent of offensive snaps in Super Bowl LVII.
