Sometimes on the internet, the rumor mill gets a little too crazy.

A case and point on this comes from the rumored desire of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to get Jimmy Garoppolo.

A tweet by Dan Sileo would send this rumor into orbit.

However, the rumor is not only false, but insane.

There are too many reasons this trade makes no sense.

So what makes this trade rumor so crazy?

Tom Brady Was Rumored To Be Behind The Deal That Sent Garoppolo To San Francisco

The first reason this makes no sense is because of the history between Tom Brady and Garoppolo.

If you believe the rumors from New England, coach Bill Belichick desired to replace Brady with Jimmy G one day.

However, according to the rumors, Brady would force the trade.

But this move was puzzling to some fans, who knew Brady was still the best in the league.

Yet the trade went through, and Garoppolo went to San Francisco.

If the seven-time Super Bowl champion QB had a hand in that, then why would he allow the Buccaneers to make this trade?

It would be like New England all over again.

Why would he want that?

He wouldn’t, which is what makes this trade nonsense so crazy.

Yet it was a story people ran with online.

However, there’s more to the story that makes the trade something that wouldn’t make any sense.

If Tampa Bay Wanted Garoppolo, They Would Have Got Him After Brady’s Retirement

The 40 short days during Brady’s retirement was a perfect chance for Tampa Bay to get a new quarterback.

However, they didn’t make any moves to get a new quarterback.

If the team wanted the San Francisco quarterback, they could have got him during that time frame.

But that wasn’t the case, even though the team had a need for a new quarterback.

They never attempted to trade for any quarterback during Brady’s short retirement.

However, was this because they knew Brady was coming back?

Or was the reason because they felt they could easily get another quarterback in the NFL Draft?

While we may never know this answer, it’s clear the team wasn’t worried about a new quarterback.

In The End, The Truth Came Out About This Jimmy G Rumor

With the claim that Don Yee was the person to tell Dan Sileo about the trade, Yee came out and denied this rumor.

Yee has clarified that he has said nothing to any member of the media about the future of his client.

With that out there, this rumor is now officially dead.

So while people might have gotten their clickbait articles in, the reality is Jimmy G isn’t going to Tampa.

However, he could still find a new home in 2022 if the 49ers can find a trade partner.

But for now, that trade partner isn’t the Buccaneers.

As long as Brady is on the team, don’t expect him to allow for that trade.

Especially if you like to believe in the rumors of years ago.
