Jerry Jones Defends Dak Prescott After Latest Loss

After their Week 10 collapse to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys organization could have reason to lose faith in their team, and ultimately, their quarterback.

By publicly endorsing Prescott, Jones is showing that he still has confidence in Prescott, even though the Cowboys are now ranked third in their division after their loss.

By The Numbers

In the four games that Prescott has played in 2022, he has completed passes at a 63.8% rate, thrown for 214 yards per game, and only has six touchdown passes compared to four interceptions.

How does that compare to his historical stats through the four games played?

Well, let’s just say that it’s not promising.

In his first four games in 2019, Prescott was averaging 285 passing yards per game, had nine touchdowns and three interceptions, and was completing passes at a 72.4% rate.

When combining his numbers in the first four games of 2019, 2020, and 2021, Prescott was averaging 324 pass yards, 9.3 touchdowns, 2.6 interceptions, and a completion percentage of 72.1%.

While Jones may be giving Prescott lots of public praise, at least from a numbers perspective, he isn’t performing even close to his ceiling.

For Prescott’s sake, let’s hope that he can turn it around for the rest of the season.

The defense has been holding opposing teams to 18.2 points per game, which is the fifth-best rate in the league.

If Dak can start playing like the quarterback that we’ve seen from the past few seasons, the Cowboys will be in great shape, especially for a potential playoff run.
