James Harden: I Wanted To Retire As A Sixer, Relationship With Front Office Can't Be Repaired

James Harden spoke with the media for the first time since reporting to the Philadelphia 76ers as he continues to seek a trade from the franchise.

“When I got traded here, my whole thing was to retire as a Sixer,” said Harden. “I wanted to be here and retire a Sixer. The front office didn’t have that in their plans. It’s literally out of my control.”

Harden has directed his objections with the Sixers specifically towards Daryl Morey. Harden opted into his $35.6 million contract with the Sixers in June with the expectation he would be traded.

“No,” said Harden when asked if his relationship with Morey can be repaired.

“It’s not even about this situation. This is about life. When you lose trust in someone… It’s like a marriage. When you lose trust in someone… It’s pretty simple.”
