Jacksonville Jaguars Dramatically End Their Misery vs. the NFC

It began with a 40-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington back in Week 6 of the 2018 season. And on Sunday afternoon in their home digs, it appeared it would continue against the very same franchise.

Last October in London, England, the Jacksonville Jaguars snapped a 20-game overall losing streak with a victory over the Miami Dolphins. On Sunday, the franchise ended four-plus years of interconference misery by rallying for an improbably 40-34 overtime win over the stunned Cowboys. The triumph ended an unusual and ironic 20-game skid vs. NFC competition.

Dating back to that aforementioned 33-point loss to Dallas in ’18, the Jaguars had lost to each of the 16 teams in the National Football Conference at least once. Just two weeks ago, Doug Pederson’s club was pushed around by the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, 40-14. Against the Cowboys, Jacksonville was down 21-7 at intermission and had already surrendered 223 total yards in the first two quarters. The deficit would be 27-10 with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter.

Reversal of Misfortunes

And that’s when things start to go the Jaguars’ way. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence would find Zay Jones for a 59-yard score. Dallas would get the ball back but on the second play of their possession, Rayshawn Jenkins picked off Dak Prescott. That set up Lawrence’s 10-yard TD strike to Marvin Jones Jr. And moments later, Lawrence capped off a long drive with another touchdown toss to Zay Jones.
