Izzy Stricker, youngest daughter of Steve Stricker, commits to Wisconsin women’s golf team

Last month, Izzy Stricker, the youngest daughter of Steve Stricker, came from behind to win an individual state championship for Waunakee High School, outside of Madison.

Now, she’s made her college decision and will be staying close to home. Stricker committed to the Wisconsin women’s golf program earlier this month, according to Wisconsin.Golf, following a family tradition with the Badgers.

“I sort of always knew I wanted to go to Wisconsin so I didn’t have any other schools in mind,” Stricker told Wisconsin.Golf. “It’s always been a dream to follow my mom and sister’s footsteps and go to Wisconsin and I’ve always loved attending the football and basketball games as a kid. The university feels like home, and I could never imagine myself anywhere else.

“I made the call to Coach Oehrlein, telling him I’d love to be a Badger. I was really appreciative that he committed to me really early, and I wanted to do the same.”

Steve Stricker’s wife, Nicki, was a four-year letter-winner for the Wisconsin women where her grandfather Dennis Tiziani was head coach from 1989-2003. Tiziani also coached the Wisconsin men’s team from 1977-2003.

Izzi’s older sister, Bobbi, played tennis in high school, but then walked onto the Badgers golf team and watched her scoring average drop from 79 to 74.6 by her senior year. After graduating, she won the Wisconsin Women’s Amateur Championship with her mom on the bag.
