It’s Only A Matter Of Time Until Josh McDaniels Is Fired

Josh McDaniels adds to his impressive collection of losses this season by adding a loss to a coach who has never coached before. Yes Jeff Saturday was one of the greatest lineman of his generation and has an extensive knowledge of football but that Raiders loss yesterday just shows how poor of a head coach Josh McDaniels truly is. Not only is his 13-23 record all time as a coach quite abysmal but he has seemed to have lost the locker room in Vegas as well.

Players Look Uninterested Playing For McDaniels

After yesterday’s loss Derek Carr was vocal and emotional during his post game press conference. Carr defended his head coach when asked if there was a disconnect between the two and he went to bat for his coach but Carr alluded to other players on the team not caring enough. If you have unmotivated players playing for you then you as a coach, and as a team, have already lost the game. It’s also a very tough look for your franchise having a player be this emotional after a game.

With two of the Raiders main pass catchers going on injured reserve prior to the Colts game (Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow) the Raiders relied heavily on DeVante Adams and Josh Jacobs but as the game progressed you could see their progressive fatigue start to kick in. Adams was targeted on 35% of Carr’s drop backs and the play calling showed how much McDaniels only trusts them two.

The Raiders season clearly is not going how many would have hoped for coming into the year. With a team that was sent to the playoffs last season on a buzzer beater field goal in overtime to almost beat the Bengals in the wild card round to this is a complete 180.

The Decision To Let Rich Bissacia Go For McDaniels

Josh McDaniels has blown three 17 plus point leads this season. The Raiders in their entire existence as a franchise have only done that 5 times. Understanding that Josh McDaniels was the sexy coaching candidate for the Raiders they failed to realize the right coach for the team was the former interim head coach, Rich Bisaccia.

Bissacia was able to get the Raiders back on track after the Jon Gruden situation and the team falling to 6-7. With little to no chance of making the playoffs he was able to motivate the Raiders players into willing themselves into the last wild card spot. The team has clearly regressed from last season and

McDaniels Cannot Motivate His Players

With McDaniels at the head the team seems to be lacking any and all motivation. McDaniels rarely used Josh Jacobs the first three weeks of the season because his (McDaniels) ego was bruised by Jacobs. When he decided to actually give his all pro running back more carries the offense significantly performed better. If McDaniels is the offensive genius that everyone thinks he is then why would you not employ the services of one of your best weapons.

The collective misery of the players around the team is very evident from people on the outside looking in. As defensive end Chandler Jones seems uninterested this year with a half sack and twelve tackles through nine games his counterpart Maxx Crosby is screaming and throwing equipment out of frustration. The team seems to be miserable with Josh McDaniels as head coach and clearly the team seems like they have quit on McDaniels.

Ultimately the decision is going to come at some point to fire Josh McDaniels. It could be this week or at the end of the season but one thing is very clear. In the 40 or so games Josh McDaniels has coached he seems like he is in way over his head. Maybe just being an offensive coordinator is his calling.
