In photos: Bryson DeChambeau’s incredible day at the BMW Championship (barely missing out on a 59)

Bryson DeChambeau nearly became the 13th player to shoot a sub-60 round on the PGA Tour on Friday at Caves Valley Golf Club during the second round of the BMW Championship, but he missed a short putt on the final hole to post a 60 for the day. It should be noted that the PGA Tour implemented preferred lies.

DeChambeau has eight victories on the PGA Tour, including one major.

The SMU grad won the 2020 U.S. Open in the fall at Winged Foot and the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, and is ninth in the FedEx Cup standings but would take over the lead if he were to win.

Since 2010, there have been eight more golfers who shot a 59, including Jim Furyk, who also shot a record-setting 58 in 2016. He remains the only golfer to shoot a 58 on Tour and he’s the only golfer to break 60 twice.
