Ian Wright and Gary Lineker have taken to social media to voice their disapproval at  VAR decisions in the wake of Alexis Mac Allister’s disallowed goal for Brighton against Leicester City.

The Argentine fired in an unstoppable effort from 25 yards but his goal was overturned by VAR after Enock Mwepu was adjudged to have been in an offside position in the build up.

The decision comes after two highly-contentious VAR calls on Saturday that ruled out goals for West Ham United in their game at Chelsea and Newcastle United in their clash with Crystal Palace.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright wrote: ‘Bin it!! #VAR.’

Piers Morgan added: ‘VAR is killing football, and all the smart-ass sportswriters & pundits who support it are accomplices to the murder.’

Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling tweeted: ‘Well done VAR . One of the great goals ruled out for something nobody even appealed for. It’s a total shambles as it has been from its inception.’

At this point it’s better to scrap the entire thing if they can’t hire competent people to make the decisions.’
