Hunter Renfrow Bags $32 Million Extension with Las Vegas Raiders

Hunter Renfrow had a breakout season with the Las Vegas Raiders last year. In his third season, he notched 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 103 catches. Renfrow and the Raiders came to an agreement on an extension, worth $32 million. This ensures Renfrow will stay in town for at least two more years.

The deal might not seem like much, but the 26 year old from Clemson University, who was drafted in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft has been a steady part of the offense posting just under 2300 receiving yards, on 208 receptions in his first three seasons, and his role continues to grow.

Hunter Renfrow is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL

Renfrow continues to cement himself as a top route runner in this league. The confidence and chemistry between him and quarterback Derek Carr continues to grow as well. Along with this deal, the off-season for the Raiders has been quite productive.  The team was also able to make a blockbuster trade to bring in former Packers player and All-Pro wideout Davante Adams. With this addition, the Raiders offense now seems poised to make a jump into being a top five group in the league.

In the new pass happy league where the priority for wideouts keeps growing and the contracts keep rising, drafting well and extending those guys is the number one way to stay elite at this spot. Building from the bottom up, the Raiders nailed that with Renfrow. The Raiders have surrounded him with elite pros like Davante Adams and tight end, Darren Waller. Indeed, the Raiders are building an offense tailor made for the 2022 NFL. This is even more important when you look around their division and see groups like the Patrick Mahomes led Chiefs.  Russell Wilson lead the Broncos now, and their offense will look much different, too. Renfrow may not be a household name, but the chain moving machine is a pair made in heaven next to Superstar Davante Adams. Saying the Raiders had a “good” off-season would be underselling it, by a wide margin.
