Home north of downtown sustains serious damage in overnight fire, SAFD says

A home north of downtown sustained serious damage early Tuesday morning after a fire, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Crews responded to the fire around 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Ripley Avenue, which is located near West Magnolia Avenue.

The flames primarily damaged the attic area of the home. Officials said the fire burned through portions of the roof.

SAFD said that additions to the home delayed crews’ response time to the attic. At some point, the flames were eventually contained.

A resident inside the home was able to safely escape. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
