Hawks Have ‘Continued Question Marks’ On Trae Young, Could Discuss Future With Rich Paul In Offseason

The future of Trae Young with the Atlanta Hawks has become a topic of intrigue around the league following a report from The Ringer that there is a belief their front office has the “green light” to trade him should that be their preferred course of action.

Young responded to the report on Tuesday and there was additional reporting from Shams Charania.

While Young and Quin Snyder “both have genuine respect for each other,” the team appears to be in wait and see mode.

“I’m told the Hawks are continuing to closely monitor Trae Young’s day-to-day commitments and his habits on a day-to-day basis on the floor and off the floor,” said Charania. “What Trae Young is willing to do to be a leader, what it takes to be a leader. Clearly, there’s been continued question marks, I think, around that organization as far as Trae Young. An unbelievable player on the floor…

“The one thing that is of note, his agent is Rich Paul, and that’s someone that we know the expectation is going to be there will be conversations, I think, between Trae Young’s camp and the Hawks and their ownership as far as what direction the Hawks are going to in the future as far as with Trae Young.”
