Guess the rent of this 1950s catalog 2-bedroom Alamo Heights home

Home prices have surged drastically this year, making it difficult for those looking to but their first home. So people are still renting. But San Antonio rents aren’t necessarily dropping. From finding your perfect new home to negotiating rent prices, searching for an apartment in San Antonio can be quite the experience. Taking inspiration from our sister publication SFGate in San Francisco, MySA is looking at local properties showcasing the best, worst, and everything in between here in the Alamo City. Let’s guess the rent.

We’re out of the fourplex and going north to Alamo Heights for this week’s Craigslist find.

This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home from the 1950s at 232 E Fair Oaks Place looks like its pulled straight out of a retro catalog, but the inside looks like it’s had some upgrades.

Let’s jump in.

OK we’re back to the front of this cute 1950s home.

Craigslist

I lied. We’re back outside. You have to see the front of the home to get a sense of how well-kept this retro home is and how cute it looks.

The kitchen is pretty basic, but it's the only thing basic about this house.

We’re jumping into the kitchen because this is probably the most basic element in the house. Stainless steel appliances bring a modern touch, but it’s not the most eye-catching.

Let’s move on.

There's a already a living room in this house. Let's call this a drawing room.

The living room I showed at the beginning is complimented by the amount of light it let’s in, but its the accent space for me in this space. The term is a little Victorian, but let’s call it a drawing room.

Need a little light in your life? This bedroom has plenty of it.

Craigslist

This house has so much light, which tends to open up a space a lot. That works in the favor of this 1,600-square-foot home. This one bedroom alone has six windows. That’s a lot of blinds.

Theres something luxurious about a black and white tile bathroom.

I’m a fan of bathrooms with black and white tile, but a truly awesome feature is the walk in shower with a clouded glass door.

This bedroom makes up for the lack of windows with really tall windows.

This bedroom may not have as many windows as the other, but the taller windows still let in a lot of light.

Here's your backyard.

Craigslist

I have had some requests from readers who want to see the backyard. Sometimes listings don’t have photos of the backyard, and other just don’t look all that great. But this a backyard that I’m happy to add to this post. Think of all the backyard hangs.

So how much does it cost for this 1950s abode?

The rent is $2,400 a month. Zumper says average rent for a two-bedroom in the area is $2,345 a month.
