Get to know the four international courses hosting the LIV Golf League in 2023

After hosting eight events in its inaugural season in 2022, the LIV Golf Invitational Series has re-branded to the LIV Golf League for 2023 and its schedule is starting to take shape.

On Monday, Golfweek confirmed El Camaleon Golf Club in Riviera Maya, Mexico, which has regularly held the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technologies Championship at Mayakoba, would host LIV’s first event of its new season, Feb. 24-26. The Saudi Arabia-backed circuit officially announced the Mexico event Wednesday, as well as two additional international stops in Singapore and Spain after previously announcing an event in Australia.

LIV has revealed four of its 14 events for 2023 and could potentially host as many as six of those events internationally if it returns to one or both of the Centurion Club in England or Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in Saudi Arabia, which staged events in LIV’s inaugural season in 2022.

Feb. 24-26 — LIV Golf Mayakoba

Location: Mayakoba’s El Camaleon Golf Club, Riviera Maya, Mexico

Brief history: Fans of the PGA Tour know El Camaleon as the host of the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. The Greg Norman design blends through the rich ecosystems of Mayakoba and includes holes along the Caribbean Sea. Nestled in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, the eco-resort’s El Camaleon ranks No. 18 on Golfweek’s Best Courses list for Mexico, the Caribbean, Atlantic islands and Central America.

April 21-23 — LIV Golf Adelaide

Location: Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, Australia

Brief history: It shouldn’t be a surprise that LIV is bound for the Grange. Similar to El Camaleon, the Australian club also has a connection to Norman: Grance was the site of his first professional win in 1976. The venue previously hosted the Women’s Australian Open in 2019 and 2016 and will be a “home open” of sorts for LIV Aussies such as world No. 3 Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman and Matt Jones.

April 28-30 — LIV Golf Singapore

Location: Sentosa Golf Club, Sentosa, Singapore

Brief history: The club has previously hosted the Singapore Open, which includes past champions such as LIV’s Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia. Sentosa’s commitment to sustainability – the club pledged to be carbon neutral by the end of 2022 – saw it become the first golf club to join the UN Sports for Climate Action Initiative.

June 30-July 2 — LIV Golf Valderrama

Location: Real Club Valderrama, Sotogrande, Cádiz, Spain

Brief history: No stranger to professional golf events, Valderrama previously hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997, two WGCs in 1999 and 2000 as well as the DP World Tour’s Andalucía Masters and Volvo Masters. LIV golfers Graeme McDowell (2010) and Sergio Garcia (2011, 2017, 2018) have previously won at Valderrama.
