Game Thread: San Antonio Spurs vs Pacers

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs have lost 5 of their last 7 games, and despite some encouraging wins against contending teams, they haven’t been able to show consistent effort at home. Most recently, the Silver and Black were able to take Thursday’s game into two overtimes, but they struggled to stop the clutch shooting of the elite Atlanta marksmen, and Danilo Gallinari sank the winning shot in the second overtime that put the game out of reach. Tonight they play the Pacers, who they were scheduled to play earlier in the year, but the contest was cancelled due to Covid-19, and that has really stunted the momentum of the team which has been inconsistent since missing a few weeks. This is a chance for the Spurs to turn things around with Derrick White finding the range and the possible return of Lonnie Walker IV. Gorgui Dieng is still out with a sprained shoulder, so Jakob Poeltl’s backup will be Drew Eubanks, who always brings lots of effort.

The big problem is inconsistency, and sometimes a lack of intensity. It’s not the usual propensity, for the team from the Alamo City, to fail to play with tenacity, but tonight, they must play with audacity. They need to use perspicacity, and start doing creative basketry.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
