Gallery: Brand New Screenshots Of Sonic Origins, Out On Switch This June

@XBontendo The MD collection was a good selection of quality games, but was roms on an emulator with tonnes of lag, sound issues etc. This is 4/5 games entirely rebuilt from the ground up in a modern engine with many extras, tweaks, and most importantly a tonne of unlockables, challenges, score attacks, time attacks, leaderboards, mirror modes, boss rushes, special stage only modes, etc. Sonic games’ replay strength has always been in perfecting your runs so these kinds of things go a HUGE way to making it all so much better longevity for those who really care about this stuff and have played these games hundreds of time, and want to continue to do so in interesting new ways.

$44 to me seems like a bargain, especially compared to, say, $60 for 3 barely touched roms on Mario 3D All Stars. (Which by the way, I also happily bought as I love those 3 games. I’m no Mario hater). But of course, your perspective will be on how much you as an individual care about these specific games. From where I’m standing, this is going to be the definitive way to play 5 of my favourite games ever – which I bought in the 90s and have never stopped replaying since. But for someone only vaguely interested, maybe a Megadrive rom pack (or NSO expansion pack) gives better variety to dip in and out of. I understand that perspective too, though it couldnt’ be further from my own, I respect it.
