Fatal crash shuts down lanes on I-10 near Hildebrand for several hours

Update at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29:

The eastbound lanes on I-10 near Hildebrand will be closed for about two hours following a fatal crash on Wednesday, June 29, according to the San Antonio Police Department. 

SAPD completely shut down portions of the highway from Fresno to Hildebrand after a white vehicle collided with a utility truck. Police said the driver of the white vehicle died at the scene. The driver and the passenger of the utility truck are in good condition with no injuries.

Officials don’t foresee any criminal charges at this time.

SAPD said, “it just seemed like a tragic accident.” Information on the driver who died at the scene has not been released. 

Police are asking commuters to use a different route. 

Original story at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29:

The San Antonio Police Department has shut down a portion of eastbound Interstate 10 due to a major accident on Wednesday, June 29. SAPD alerted the public about the crash just after 11 a.m. 

Police tweeted that Interstate 10 has been completely shut down from Fresno to Hildebrand near downtown San Antonio. Police have not released information regarding injuries or details of the accident. 

If you are in the area, police are asking you to use a different route. 

Earlier on Wednesday, the San Antonio Police Department closed a portion of Highway 16 after a fatal major accident. According to SAPD, officials shut down the northbound and southbound lanes at Southwest Loop 410, near Palo Alto College. It has since been open, officials confirmed to MySA.
