Ettore Messina will coach the Spurs in Game 3
Pop is out mourning his wife, Erin.
Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina will coach the Spurs in Game 3 versus the Warriors tonight. Gregg Popovich is currently away from the team following the death of his wife, Erin.

Messina joined the Spurs’ staff in the summer of 2014 after a spending most of his career in Europe and is widely considered one of the best European basketball coaches of all time. He served as head coach for a couple of games during the 2015-16 season when Pop was out due to a family emergency.
Per usual, Pop wants the focus to be on the game:
RC Buford says he has spoken to Pop, who is “overwhelmed” by the love and support. “As you’d expect from Pop, he wants the focus to be on the game tonight.”

There is no word on when he plans to return to the team.
