ESPN Predicts Jimmy Garoppolo Will Sign With Raiders

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been with the San Francisco 49ers since he was traded there by the New England Patriots on Halloween in 2017. He has experienced plenty of highs with the franchise, leading them to the NFC Championship Game twice and advancing to the Super Bowl once.

However, his time with the franchise has come to an end. Jimmy Garoppolo was close to moving on last season, but off-season shoulder surgery led to his market being crushed. He reworked his deal to remain as the backup in San Francisco this season but ended up starting 10 games after Trey Lance was injured.

An injury to his foot ended his season after 10 starts and now he is set to hit free agency. Jimmy Garoppolo will be playing for a new team in 2023, as head coach Kyle Shanahan said there are no plans to bring him back for another year with the franchise.

Where could Jimmy Garoppolo end up? There are plenty of teams that will be looking to add a quarterback this offseason, so he should have a relatively strong market. Over at ESPN, they did a simulation about where all the quarterbacks could end up this season and they believe Jimmy Garoppolo will end up with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Las Vegas would be an excellent landing spot for Jimmy Garoppolo. The pieces are in place for a quarterback to step in and excel right away. Josh Jacobs, who is a free agent, led the NFL in rushing yards in 2022 and All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams is there as a No. 1 target. Wide receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller remain in the mix as well.

That is a lot of firepower for a quarterback to take advantage of. The biggest reason that Jimmy Garoppolo is a fit in Las Vegas is that he has worked with head coach Josh McDaniels previously. Derek Carr struggled to adapt to his system, but it is one that Jimmy Garoppolo has experience working in from their time shared with the Patriots.

There isn’t a better fit for Jimmy Garoppolo given the coaching staff and roster that is in place in Las Vegas. If the Raiders make him an offer that is competitive with the others on the market, it should be a no-brainer.
