ESPN FPI ranks Raiders as No. 10 team in NFL despite 1-4 record

Although the Las Vegas Raiders are 1-4, ESPN’s NFL Football Power Index ranks them as the NFL’s 10th-best team.

FPI uses multiple statistics to predict outcomes. (For more on FPI, click here). This benefits Las Vegas, because it has multiple players on league leaderboards.

Defensive end Maxx Crosby is tied for second in sacks, running back Josh Jacobs is third in rushing yards and wide receiver Davante Adams is tied for third in receiving touchdowns.

The Raiders have not been blown out, losing four games by a total of five points. The Raiders must improve late-game execution, but they believe breaking out of the slump is inevitable.

After a 30-29 loss to the Chiefs, Jacobs told ESPN’s Paul Guiterrez: “I don’t have no doubt that we’re going to get it together.”

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels inherited a team that won 10 games and made the playoffs in 2021, and he’s not planning to remodel it.

“I don’t think there needs to be a radical change or shift,” McDaniels said, per The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.
