Spell, a personal trainer based in New York State, had previously been the record holder before setting the new benchmark in 2021 to overtake the 65 inches set by Brett Williams from Texas, two years earlier.

The fact Elanga has just recorded a personal best shows how much he is improving and pushing himself to reach new targets in the gym, after a season when he managed to become a regular first-teamer, making 27 appearances for his boyhood club.

“My ambitions have always been to be a first-team player and improve,” he told United Review recently.

“Obviously, at the start of the season, I really wanted to be up there with the first team and play as many games as I can. And just enjoy it.
