East side shooting leaves father and son hospitalized

Two people were shot Saturday afternoon on the city’s East Side, police said.

Police responded to the shooting near Clark Avenue and I Street just after 4 p.m. Sunday. A man was walking with his sons through the neighborhood when they were approached by a group of teenagers, San Antonio police Sgt. Tom Alonzo said. The two groups began to argue and several shots were fired, injuring two.

The man, around 40 years old, and one of his sons, about 16, were both taken to Brooke Army Medical Center. The teen is facing life-threatening injuries, Alonzo said.

Police chased after the suspected assailants on foot and are in talks with several persons of interest. No arrests have been reported.
