The key to victory is recognizing what needs to be changed.

By the end of the season it will be of little consequence, a couple of wins and losses. But there is something about playing the same team within a small timeframe that shows you have an ability to adjust.

By halftime of Monday night’s game, the Spurs made alterations to their defensive strategy in attempt to lasso Giannis Antetokounmpo. By half, he had tallied only ten points and five assists. By no means had the Spurs shut him down, but they had done a better job than just two days before.

And the result was a victory.

That should give fans hope, because in a playoff situation, the team who can make adjustments has the best chance of prevailing in a series.

There will be two more opportunities for this kind of instant visual feedback. The Spurs pay the Miami Heat on January 15th and again four days later on the 19th. And again, the Spurs play the New Orleans Pelicans on January 22nd and then host them four days later on the 26th.

If they can spin these types of modifications at halftime, there will be an uptick on the Spurs stock going into the Rodeo Road Trip.
