David Seaman has revealed that he wanted the Arsenal fans to boo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during last weekend’s game against Chelsea.

The striker struggled against his old club and was substituted in the 64th minute, with Arsenal winning the game 1-0.

Arsenal legend Seaman admitted that he isn’t surprised by how Aubameyang played as it is reminiscent of the end of his spell at Arsenal.

Speaking on his Seaman Says YouTube channel, he said: ‘The Aubameyang situation… his last season at Arsenal is exactly what it’s like now [at Chelsea].

‘The fact that Barcelona let him go tells you everything. I’m not surprised [he is struggling].

‘I’m not surprised the way he is playing. That’s what he been like for quite a while now. He does it in flashes, he doesn’t do it for long enough.’

Seaman was disappointed that the Arsenal fans didn’t get to boo Aubameyang as he ‘sneaked off’ when substituted.

He said: ‘The only disappointing this about the weekend is that when Arsenal scored, he sneaked off.

‘I wanted the Arsenal fans to proper boo him. They didn’t get that chance as he got hooked off straight away as soon as we scored and all the Arsenal fans were too busy celebrating.’

During his time at Arsenal Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 appearances.

Aubameyang scored in three consecutive games for Chelsea at the start of October but he hasn’t managed to find the net since.

The striker left Arsenal in February this year after falling out with manager Mikel Arteta.

A short spell at Barcelona followed before he made the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang was unable to cause any problems for Arsenal and Chelsea boss Graham Potter will have been concerned by his performance.

The 33-year-old was on the bench as Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Manchester City on Wednesday. He will hope to make an impact away to Newcastle on Saturday.
