Dallas Cowboys Render Decision On Kicker For Divisional Round; Sign OL, Cut CB

The Dallas Cowboys have made their decision for FG kicker

The Dallas Cowboys made their elevation decisions Saturday for the Wild Card round. The Cowboys will play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday for the right to play in the NFC championship game. The Cowboys had question marks coming into the game with their kicker, Brett Maher.

Maher missed four extra points in the Cowboys’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night. He became the first kicker in recorded NFL history to miss four extra points in a game. His early misses changed the Cowboys’ fourth-down strategy against the Buccaneers. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after the game the Cowboys wouldn’t replace Maher.

However, the Cowboys signed kicker Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad this week. It was assumed the Cowboys would have a kicking competition betwen Maher and Vizcaino for Sunday’s game. We have an aswer to who won the battle as of Saturday afternoon.

According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Cowboys chose not to elevate Vizcaino from the practice squad. That means Maher will get another chance to kick field goals and extra points for the Cowboys on Sunday.
