Dallas Cowboys Day 3 NFL Draft Targets

The Dallas Cowboys had a strange start to the NFL Draft, but everyone knows it’s not how you start, it’s hard you finish. The Cowboys have four picks on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, and they should be able to select a few prospects that can provide valuable depth and contribute to this already talented roster.

Note that, for the purposes of this exercise, we are going to assume that some of the top prospects remaining on the board will not be available when the Cowboys are on the clock. As fun as it would be, there is no way that Kelee Ringo is still there at the back of the fourth round.

4 Dallas Cowboys Day 3 NFL Draft Targets

1. Braeden Daniels, G

The Dallas Cowboys offensive line is not the dominating force it used to be. Braeden Daniels isn’t going to singlehandedly fix this issue, but he could fight for a starting job at any of the three interior positions. He’s an above-average athlete that never gets beat by quickness and has the strength and motor to hold up to bull rushes. Smarter defensive tackles will be able to exploit his inconsistent mechanics, and he’s not the type of blocker that will knock a guy on his back in the run game, but he’s an all-around solid player that should be a welcome addition to the Cowboys on Day 3.

2. Eric Gray, RB

After the Cowboys failed to select a running back during the first three rounds, it’s now safe to say that Tony Pollard will be the unquestioned three-down back for Dallas. However, even with that in mind, the Cowboys could invest in a Day 3 running back to provide some depth and competition for Ronald Jones. Much like Jones, Eric Gray is a hard-nosed, one-cut runner that makes his money plowing over defenders in the middle of the field. These two will likely battle for the same job, but the young and more athletic Eric Gray should come out on top.
