Cristiano Ronaldo matches Lionel Messi record, but damning stats highlight Man United’s dismal Champions League form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
On the back of their Champions League game on Tuesday, some interesting statistics have emerged surrounding Manchester United.
Man United dealt shock loss
Manchester United would take on Young Boys in a Champions League clash on Tuesday evening.
The Red Devils would head into the tie as favourites and no doubt desperate to pick up a win as it was clear that the Swiss outfit are the weakest team in United’s group.
And, things did start brightly for Man United when Cristiano Ronaldo fired the visitors into the lead after just 13 minutes:
It just had to be him, didn’t it! 🎯

On the back of that goal, it was revealed that Ronald has matched a record currently held by Lionel Messi.
As per Opta, Young Boys are the 36th different team Ronaldo has scored against in the UEFA Champions League, with no player scoring against more:

Solskjaer’s awful Champions League record
On a less positive note, Opta also revealed that Man United managed just two shots vs Young Boys, the fewest Opta have on record in any of the Red Devils’ 138 UEFA Champions League matches since 2003/04:

Elsewhere, it was revealed that the Manchester outfit have lost seven of their 11 UEFA Champions League matches under Solskjaer, with 13 per cent of their total defeats in the competition having come under OGS, despite the Norwegian only being in charge for 4.8 per cent of their matches:
