Cowboys Receive Devastating Injury News After Big Win

The Dallas Cowboys picked up another dominant victory in Week 13, this time on Sunday Night Football over the Indianapolis Colts. Dallas won the game 54-19, scoring a franchise-record 33 points in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

It was the third time in five games that the team scored at least 40 points as they are starting to click on the offensive side of the ball. The defense has done a great job as well forcing turnovers and putting the team in advantageous positions to score.

The Cowboys forced five more turnovers against the Colts, which enabled them to pour it on in the fourth quarter. However, Dallas still came away feeling as if they lost in some regard as another significant injury was suffered.

Cornerback Anthony Brown went down with an injury late in the third quarter with what looked to be a serious injury as he was carted off the field. Their worst fears ended up coming to fruition as Brown was diagnosed with a torn Achilles. Owner Jerry Jones confirmed the devastating injury.

“I’m sick for him,” Jones said. “He’s had an outstanding career. Boy, he’s brought it up by the bootstrap, and he, to me, is what a young player working hard, really having the right stuff, can become who’s not a No. 1 draft pick. I’m sick for him and sick for us.”

This isn’t the first injury that Brown suffered this season, as he had a concussion against the Packers in Week 10. However, he was back in the lineup for their next game against the Minnesota Vikings. He won’t be as fortunate this time, as the Achilles injury will end his season and put a shadow of doubt on his 2023 campaign as well.

Not having Brown in the lineup will be a huge loss. He has basically been an every-down player for the Cowboys this season playing opposite Trevon Diggs. Dallas was already without slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who suffered a season-ending foot injury on October 23rd.

Kelvin Joseph was inserted into the lineup in Brown’s place and struggled a bit as he surrendered a touchdown to Colts’ rookie wide receiver Alec Pierce. Despite that, Jones and the team have confidence in Joseph taking on a bigger role.

“It’s not too big for him,” Jones said. “I think he can step up and build on what he’s done and let’s make no bones about it, Joseph has had [off-field] issues. I’m just saying that I think he can get this job done. I think he can step in here and be a player for us, issues and all.”

Even if the team has confidence in Joseph, the Cowboys will likely be making a move in the near future to add some depth to the team. There are some veterans still available in free agency such as Joe Haden, Janoris Jenkins, Josh Norman, and A.J. Bouye.
