Cowboys owner Jerry Jones again compares RBs Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was sidelined with a knee injury during the team’s Week 8 win over the Chicago Bears, paving the way for Tony Pollard to erupt for 131 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Dallas is on a bye in Week 9, but owner Jerry Jones is still facing questions regarding how the team will move forward with their split backfield once “Zeke” returns to the field.

Jones’ comments echo what he said on Monday when he noted “We’re going to go as Zeke goes.” Both Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy spoke on the two running backs leading into Week 8 and with the team not playing again until Nov. 13, the chatter will likely only increase.

Prior to the contest against the Bears, neither running back had missed a game this season. Before that game, the split in touches (rushing attempts and receptions) went in favor of Elliott 115 to 78.

Going into the bye, Elliott has recorded 443 rushing yards on 109 attempts (4.1 yards per carry) and added six receptions for 32 yards this season. Pollard has posted a team-high 506 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 81 totes (6.2 yards per carry) and has contributed 12 catches for 121 receiving yards as well.
