Cowboys’ Micah Parsons tried to argue his way back into blowout win over Vikings

Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons proved why he’s one of the NFL’s top competitors in Sunday’s blowout of the Minnesota Vikings.

With the game in hand, and another game to play on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys cautiously pulled Parsons from the contest late, despite his objections.

Parson, shown wearing the headset of Cowboys senior defensive assistant George Edwards, lobbied upstairs to defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for one more series. After Edwards pointed out that the Cowboys have to play Thursday and that keeping him out of the game was in the best interest of his health, Parsons responded by threatening to hold out of practice this week.

“I better not practice then,” Parsons joked as he shrugged his shoulders. “If I’m not playing, I’m not practicing.”

The 23-year-old had one of his best games of the season on Sunday, so understandably, he didn’t want it to end. Parsons finished with four tackles, two sacks, five quarterback hits and a forced fumble in the Cowboys’ 40-3 drubbing of the Vikings.

The win improved the Cowboys to 7-3, but Parson said he’s not worried about losing focus after such a decisive victory. With a short week and the NFC East rival New York Giants on tap, Parsons shared his unique method of staying motivated with Jon Machota of The Athletic.

“I’m just staying mad,” Parsons said. “People are gonna still try you. It’s almost like a bully trying to take your lunch money. I’m at that point where that’s enough, you’re not gonna keep trying to take my lunch money.”
